The Academy for Enriched Sciences (AES)
The 2019 – 2020 Academy for Enriched Sciences Instrumental Music Program is open to all students in grades Kindergarten through five.
The program is directed by Larry Newman and taught by the faculty of Children’s Music Workshop.
Instrument Choices
• Kinders and first graders may choose the violin.
• Second and third graders may choose voice (chorus), violin, cello, flute, clarinet, or trumpet.
• Fourth and fifth graders may choose voice (chorus), violin, cello, flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, or trumpet.
Instruction begins on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 and runs through the spring, culminating with a school concert on Wednesday, May 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM.
Small group classes will be scheduled every 30 – 40 minutes after school on Wednesdays from 2:45 PM – 5:15 PM.
Please have your child’s schedule clear for a 30 – 40 minute lesson during this time block. (First grade students will be scheduled immediately after dismissal at 2:38 PM.) Students waiting to take a later lesson may opt to go home with parents and then return to school at lesson time. Or, please contact the school regarding available campus supervision for students waiting to take their lesson.
The exact schedule will be determined when enrollment is complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The final schedule of classes will be emailed to all applicants a few days prior to the first day of class.
Program Costs
A fee of $595 is requested from each participant to cover the entire 2019 – 2020 (October 2, 2019 – May 13, 2020).
This fee covers not only instructional costs but all music, books and basic supplies which your child is given throughout the year. The only other expense will be the rental or purchase of the instrument. Discounted rental and purchase prices have been arranged for participating music students through our instrument supplier – including free delivery to school for the first lesson.
Free Music Tuition and Instrument Rental
A parent volunteer is needed to assist students in getting to their lesson rooms on Wednesdays. If you are available every Wednesday from 2:40 – 4:40 PM to help, please email Mr. Newman. Parent volunteers receive a full tuition waiver and free instrument rental.
